Both are provided in either milliradian or minute-of-angle configurations. “With the Zeiss LRP product family, we have expanded our riflescope portfolio to provide highly reliable optics for successful long-range precision shooting and long-distance hunting. The LRP S5 is the flagship product of our high-end Zeiss LRP product family, the LRP S3 offers a high-end option to enter this segment,” commented Bjoern Pados, Product Manager Hunting and Shooting for Zeiss Consumer Products. Smiths Detection India and Navratna Defense MoU for X-ray Manufacture Smiths Detection India and Navratna Defense PSU [public sector undertakings] Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) have signed an MoU for the manufacture of high-energy X-ray screening equipment in India, the companies announced on 5 September. The agreement – initially for five years and extendable by mutual consent – leverages the specialisations of both companies to meet India’s domestic security needs and falls in line with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. There is a growing requirement in India for screening technologies as the government invests in port and land border security facilities. The defence requirements for screening large numbers of vehicles entering sensitive areas are also driving demand. BEL will handle local market and industrialisation issues, while Smiths Detection will provide its industry-leading screening technology and technological expertise. Vikrant Trilokekar, Managing Director of Smiths Detection in India, commented: “Together, we have the expertise and experience to supply Homeland Security Forum Camero-Tech Wins Xaver LR40 Order for European Police Force Camero-Tech, an SK Group company, announced an order for its Xaver long-range sense-through-the-wall (STTW) systems from a European police special forces unit on 8 September. The Xaver LR40 will provide the user with a breakthrough operational advantage in hostile environments and continuous surveillance missions. Penetrating through walls from a remote location up to 50m distant, the device creates an unprecedented real-time situational awareness picture of the presence of people beyond the wall, their exact distance, the number of people, and direction of movement. The system is also highly sensitive in detecting unseen micro-movements of static live objects. Being able to achieve this performance and high sensitivity, the Xaver LR40 is a game changer in a range of operational scenarios. Controlled by a tablet with a simple user interface for intuitive interpretation, the Xaver LR40 features integrated data recording and playback for post-mission analysis, training, and debriefing. A dedicated sight is used for accurately directing the narrow beam of the system to the target. The system can be operated by a single operator, and it is ready for use with a push of a button. “The Xaver LR40 system allows a special force or tactical surveillance team to observe a target from long distances for hours or days without being detected,” commented Amir Beeri, CEO of Camero. “This is the only ‘Sense-Through-The-Wall’’ radar that can detect live objects from such distances. The innovative ultra-wideband sensor of the Xaver LR40, supported by patented algorithms and signal processing, provides the user with real-time situational awareness while staying safe at more than 50 meters away from the target.” Xaver LR40 is the latest addition to Camero’s Xaver long-range product line, which includes the Xaver LR80, with a detection capability of over 100 metres. Camero-Tech also offers the world-recognised short/ medium-range product line, which includes the Xaver 100, 400, and 1000 that have been successfully deployed by military and law enforcement operators in ISR and SAR applications, among others. Zeiss Launches First Focal Plan Riflescope Family Zeiss has launched its first family of focal plane riflescopes: the LRP 23 and LRP S5 offer users high-performance optics with elevation travel the company describes as “impressive”. Also incorporated is a daytime visible illuminated reticle, and a ballistic stop with an external locking windage turret. The LRP S5 is already available in two models: 318-50 and 525-56, whereas the LRP S3 will The new Global Technology Development Center in Bangalore.
