The framework contract enables NATO countries and partners to purchase the company’s respirator systems, including the FM50, MP-PAPR, ST53, filters and related accessories. Not only has Avon Protection recently completed its first successful year of delivery against the contract, but it has now reached a significant milestone with the delivery of the 100,000th FM50 across all NATO nations. The FM50 respirator and a suite of filters are at the core of the personal respirator system selected by NSPA. Developed in conjunction with US DoD to counter the multiple CBRN threats met in modern battlefield, anti-terrorist and peace-keeping operations, the FM50 is the most operationally proven and widely deployed battlefield respirator in the world. Many NATO countries and partners – including Belgium, Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands, Norway, Latvia, Lithuania and, more recently, Turkey – have already used the framework contract to equip their military personnel. “This is a significant milestone for Avon Protection, and demonstrates the ability of our business to supply product of the highest quality and performance to protect NATO’s troops for the foreseeable future,” commented Steve Elwell, VP Europe, Middle East & Africa). Meprolight Launches Two New Innovations Tru-Vision in a typical tactical application. (Photo: Meprolight) Meprolight’s booth at IWA Outdoor Classics in Nürnberg in March featured two new innovative products being formally unveiled at the show: the Mepro Tru-Vision, an ultimate red-dot sight for optimal tactical advantage; and the Mepro Evergreen, a super-bright, LED-based illuminated pistol sight for day and night applications. The Tru-Vision sight has a built-in light sensor and an automatic/manual brightness control system that enables clear visibility of the red dot in any lighting conditions; a combination of an integral motion sensor and configurable sleep time (preset) of 4-8 hours, saving power for extended operation; non-reflective optics with no light signature toward the target; improved, a rugged MIL-SPEC mounting mechanism; and a protected three-button control keypad. Its compact, lightweight design addresses the need for co-mounting several tactical devices on weapon rails (e.g. – magnifier, laser pointer, NVGs, etc.) The innovative Mepro Evergreen pistol sight uses micro super-bright LED light sources inserted into both front and rear housings, to ensure a clear, sharp illuminated three-dot picture. It contains no hazardous materials, and complies with applicable European standards. “Meprolight had a banner year [in 2021]. We’ve entered 2022 strong, and with the launch of new products at the show, we expect 2022 will be even better,” commented Benny Kokia, VP Sales and Marketing at Meprolight, an SK Group company.
