Wise Teaming

ELT and M3 Systems Gear Up For Collaborative Effort

With factors affecting the aerospace and defence markets further increasing in the 2020s, more sophisticated technology is needed to improve the capability of new products and solutions. Therefore, the single most important factor in the process – from prototyping to manufacturing – is testing and evaluation. Elettronica GmbH (ELT), headquartered in Meckenheim near Bonn (Germany), and M3 Systems in France agreed to bundle their unique expertise in test, evaluation and simulation for the aerospace and defence market. ELT, a supplier of Radio Frequency (RF)-based solutions for test, evaluation and training, brings in significant know-how in the field of Electronic Warfare (EW), radars and communications simulation, particularly for the skills the aerospace and defence customer needs in the future. The collaboration between the two mid-sized companies is aimed at providing clients in the French aerospace and defence market with a reliable capability in the field of testing, evaluation and simulation, covering the radar, communications and navigation systems domain. M3 Systems, a specialist in reliable and accurate geolocation since about the late 1990s, contributes to the partnership by providing its StellaNGC-Simulation, providing high-end functionalities such as hardware-in-the-loop and multi-trajectory generation through an ergonomic and intuitive interface. The fully customizable and upgradeable software suite supports GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) tests and measurements needs throughout the design cycle, from prototyping to manufacturing.

According to Dr. Marcello Mariucci, Managing Director of ELT, German-French industrial collaboration has always been an outstanding source for innovation. He strongly believes that the partnership with M3 Systems will result in a successful, evolutionary speed up of technologies that are needed for satellite testing and evaluation. M3 Systems‘ CEO Marc Pollina response was prompt and accurate: “We expect great benefits in terms of product development, product quality and project performance through [the] collaboration [with ELT].“ The teaming between the two technology providers, based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in September, is scheduled to be coming on stream soon, depending on the priorities set by the two partners. The rapid development of technology in the aerospace and defence market means that sticking to a strict plan of action, both in terms of platform/product testing and evaluation or the exploration of new business opportunities, is of paramount importance to be adaptive to the demands in the 2020s.
