Corps Organic Precision Fire Mounted System for AFVs
UVision Air Ltd, through its business development partner, Mistral, Inc., is to provide the US Marine Corps with the HERO-120 loitering munition for the Corps’ Organic Precision Fire Mounted (OPF-M) programme, which will equip LAV-M, JLTV and LRUSV tactical vehicles, the Tel Aviv-based company announced on 21 June.
The selection of HERO-120 OPF-M came after a number of demonstrations, tests and evaluation processes, proving the system’s performance capabilities of the system. The munition will provide the Corps with ISR, as well as highly accurate and precise indirect fire strike capabilities. UVision will also supply its Multi-Canister Launcher, tailored to the specific requirements of the USMC platforms.
HERO-120 is a mid-range, anti-armour weapon that meets the complex requirements of the modern battlefield. It is a high-precision, smart, loitering munition with a unique aerodynamic structure that conducts pinpoint strikes against point targets, including armoured vehicles, fortifications, and other soft targets in populated urban areas, in which circumstance the high-precision capability ensures minimal collateral damage. Its wide range of multi-purpose warheads enables operational users to effectively engage all targets.
