USN Continues Evaluation of Sarcos GUARDIAN DX

Focus on Maintenance, Modernisation and Sustainment

The US Navy has exercised a contract option to expand testing, evaluation and demonstrations of the Sarcos Defense GUARDIAN DX highly dexterous tele-operated robotic system for Navy-specific tasks, the company announced earlier this month.

The DX variant is based on the GUARDIAN XT mobile systems, which is itself a development of the GUARDIAN XO full-body, battery-powered industrial exoskeleton. Designed to perform tasks with human-level dexterity while protecting the operator from a variety of hazards, the modular design of GUARDIAN DX lends itself to be mounted to a variety of mobile bases. The Navy’s testing will focus on its ability to perform tasks associated with maintenance, modernisation and sustainment.

The Navy’s exercise of this contract option is an important step in our efforts to commercialize the GUARDIAN DX, consistent with the Navy’s requirements,” commented Tom Jackson, Sarcos Defense’s President.
