$265 Million Order for Nine MH-47G Block II
Boeing has received a $265 million (€223 million) order for nine further MH-47G Block II CHINOOK helicopters for US Army Special Operations Aviation Command (USASOAC), the company announced on 31 July.
Boeing is now on contract for 24 of the next-generation MH-47G Block II CHINOOKs, which feature an improved structure and weight reduction initiatives like new lighter-weight fuel pods that increase performance, efficiency and commonality across the fleet. The new CHINOOKs will give the Army significantly more capability for extremely challenging missions.
“The G-Model is a critical asset for the Army, our nation and the defense industrial base,” commented Andy Builta, VP and H-47 Program Manager. The first MH-47G Block II aircraft is scheduled for delivery to USASOAC later this year.
