US to Deliver More M577A2s to Brazil

Vehicles Meet Immediate Equipment Needs and Training Demands

The Brazilian Army is set to sign a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) agreement with the United States for the delivery of a further 60 M577A2 armoured command post vehicles, to be delivered from US Army surplus stocks.

This acquisition is in line with the agreement between the Brazilian Ministry of Defence and the United States Department of Defense, signed in October 2000, which provides surplus material from its military, classified in the US as Excess Defence or EDA items. The agreement aims to meet some immediate equipment needs and training demands.

Currently, the M577A2 is operated by several Brazilian Army armoured units, including the 5th Armoured Cavalry Brigade and the 6th Armoured Infantry Brigade.
