$7 Million Contract to Sustain Mobile STTs in the Field
Wavestream, a subsidiary of Gilat Satellite Networks that specialises in next-generation high-power solid-state power amplifiers (SSPA), has received orders valued at over $7 million to support the US Army’s Warfighter Information Network – Tactical (WIN-T), the company announced on 1 August.
The company will supply innovative Ka-band gallium nitride (GaN) block upconverters (BUCs) to the programme, to provide long-term sustainment for thousands of mobile satellite transportable terminals (STT) in the field.
WIN-T was established to provide ‘anytime, anywhere’ connectivity via the Department of Defense Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) network. Wavestream’s SSPA, ruggedised to withstand the harshest environments, enables the SSTs to deliver a ‘communications-at-the-halt’ solution across diverse climates and conditions around the globe.
“We’ve deployed thousands of BUCs to US armed forces for more than a decade […] We take pride in supporting our troops, wherever they are, with field-proven, highly reliable telecommunications solutions,” commented Wavestream General Manager, Bob Huffman.
