Part of 2018 £296 Million Deal
Mack Defense has received an order for a further 144 Heavy Dump Trucks (HDT).
The new order follows an original purchase of 155 vehicles, and forms part of a seven-year fixed-price agreement worth $296 million, signed in 2018. Production of the first 155 trucks began in 2021 and all have now been built, with deliveries continuing through to the end of August.
The Mack HDT is a variant of the company’s commercial Granite model, with heavier-duty rear axles, all-wheel drive, and various ruggedisation features that help the vehicles meet Army requirements. The HDTs are used in infrastructure construction and maintenance missions, to maintain and build Army facilities such as roadways, airstrips and supply facilities.
“We are proud to maintain our production operation which was created for the US Army M917A3 HDT program, and we are extremely proud that our Mack Defense HDT vehicles, which have been fielded, are meeting and exceeding expectations,” commented President David Hartzell. “Mack Defense remains committed to producing vehicles for the U.S. armed forces based on modified versions of our industry-leading Mack vehicles providing the latest technologies and best value while meeting the military’s demanding requirements.”
