Armament Systems Receives Additional Funding
The US Army has placed an additional $123 million in orders under production contract Option 2 for the Precision Guidance Kit (PGK) that will continue to deliver PGKs. Orbital ATK had previously signed a $69 million production option back in July 2016 under the same Option 2.
During this first production year’s nine lot acceptance tests, randomly selected PGK fuzes met all acceptance criteria for accuracy and reliability while also performing required fuze functions with a perfect safety record, according to the company.
Orbital ATK is nearly complete with the first programme year production with final lot acceptance tests scheduled this fall. Contract Option 2 provides the funding to keep PGK production continuous into the next programme year. The ‘adds’ to Option 2 provides additional funding to increase production and delivery numbers. To date, more than 20,000 PGK have been produced and fielded. Likewise, these systems have proven themselves during recent combat operations.
