Three Full-Spectrum SPECTRE Prototypes
The US Army has contracted QinetiQ to build three additional SPECTRE next-generation full-spectrum hyperspectral prototype sensors, with contract value stated at $24 million (€20 million), the company announced on 21 July.
QinetiQ developed and demonstrated the state-of-the-art prototype sensor for a US Army Program of Record. SPECTRE provides improved performance at a fraction of the size and weight of the sensors currently in use by the US government. This compact, integrated capability enables multi-mission unmanned and manned aircraft to operate in parallel to other critical sensor payloads and weapons. It unites many years of system and component development by the US Army and industry partners.
