Bilateral Talks Follow on from 2017 Treaty
British Minister of State for the Armed Forces hosted his Polish counterpart, Under Secretary of State Tomasz Szatkowski at the Gloucester headquarters of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC), the UK Ministry of Defence announced on 27 February.
Mr. Szatkowski has been in the UK for a two-day visit to discuss plans for the continued close defence relationship between the two NATO members. Visiting the ARRC highlighted Britain’s leading contribution to NATO and underlined the fact that the high readiness force staff consists of personnel from 21 NATO nations, including Poland. The UK has deployed 150 personnel to Poland as part of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence.
Britain and Poland have an exceptionally close relationship in defence matters, as signified by the signing of the bilateral treaty in Warsaw in December 2017. The only other nation with which Britain has such a treaty is France.
