Saab Will Deliver Aircraft By 2025
Just a year after announcing its intention to procure two more GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft from Saab – and a little more than five years after contracting for the first pair – the United Arab Emirates signed a contract amendment for the fourth and fifth aircraft on 30 December.
Order value remains at the $1.018 billion (€838 million) mark announced in November 2019 at the Dubai Air Show. The contract period is stated as 2020-2025.
Micael Johansson, Saab CEO, stated the contract “shows that Saab remains on the cutting edge regarding advanced technology. The GlobalEye programme is running according to plan and we have an efficient cooperation with the customer.”
GlobalEye provides simultaneous air, maritime and ground surveillance, combining sophisticated radar technology with the ultra-long range Global 6000 aircraft from Bombardier.
