Triumph to Support USN MQ-25 Hydraulics

Supporting Boeing EMD Programme for Four UAS by 2024

Boeing has selected Triumph Group to support a variety of hydraulic systems used in the flight controls, landing and arresting systems and aerial refuelling systems for the US Navy’s (USN) MQ-25 unmanned tanker, the company announced on 4 April.

These systems play a critical role in ensuring consistent operational performance of the aircraft to support the mission,” explained Executive Vice President for Triumph Integrated Systems, Frank Dubey. The company provides similar content for other Boeing aircraft, to whom it has been a supplier for 25 years.

The MQ-25 is the USN’s first operational carrier-based unmanned aircraft and is designed to provide a much-needed refuelling capability. The contract supports Boeing’s engineering and manufacturing development (EMD) programme to provide four MQ-25 aircraft to the USN for initial operational capability (IOC) by 2024.

The MQ-25 programme is vital because it will help the US Navy extend the range of the carrier air wing, and Boeing and our industry team is all-in on delivering this capability,” explained Boeing’s MQ-25 Programme Director, Dave Bujold. “The work we’re doing is also foundational for the future of Boeing – where we’re building autonomous systems from seabed to space.”
