New Order for TRACKFIRE RWS

Saab to deliver Trackfire Remote Weapon Stations for Swedish Navy’s Combat Boat 90

The Swedish Defence Material Administration (FMV) has placed an order to Saab to deliver the TRACKFIRE Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) to equip the Swedish Navy’s new Dockstavarvet Combat Boat 90 (CB90 HSM) fast military assault craft.

TRACKFIRE’s main feature is the Human Machine Interface (HMI) through which all primary functionalities can be accessed and which allows near instantaneous Surveillance and Target Acquisition (STA) cycles without the operator having to break visual contact with the Gunners Display (GD). It also features a wide range of weapon effects, including complimentary solutions such as non-lethal effectors, that can be mounted in cooperation with one another and that can accommodate both NATO and Eastern Bloc weapons. Moreover, TRACKFIRE’s independently stabilised sensor module, which is decoupled from the weapon(s) axes, ensures Stabilised Independent Line of Sight (SILOS) to the operator, thus greatly reducing target acquisition times.

TRACKFIRE is available for both naval and land platforms and is included in the Fire Control product portfolio where systems share common technology and subsystems, such as the fire control computer, video tracking module, recoil buffer and stabilisation technology.

The contract includes batch deliveries of RWS, with options on further systems, including integration and in service support. The first batch will be delivered from Q3 2018 to Q3 2019.

This is further proof of the TRACKFIRE RWS’s position in a fiercely competitive market. With high-tech innovation, the system is flexible while maintaining high levels of precision and performance. This order is an important milestone and confirm our customer’s confidence in Saab and our product,” says Anders Carp, Head of Business Area Surveillance.
