Elbit Systems’ VTOL UAS Meets MIL-STD-810
Elbit Systems’ THOR, a VTOL mini-UAS, has successfully completed environmental qualification testing ahead of delivery of over 1,000 units to a Southeast Asian army under a $153 million (€129 million) contract for a multi-layered UAS array announced last October.
The tests measured THOR’s operational durability under a range of extreme environmental conditions, as well as its capability to withstand the physical stress requirements of MIL-STD-810. They demonstrated its ability to maintain operability in temperatures between -40/+65°C, to withstand hard gusting rain and rough vibrations and to resist penetration and damage from blowing sand and dust.
THOR is designed for surveillance and reconnaissance missions over land and at sea. Electrically-propelled, it can carry payloads up to 3kg, has a flight duration capability of up to 75min, a maximum range of 10km and a flight ceiling of up to 2,000ft.
