Fincantieri Hands Over Al Khor

Fincantieri delivered the third (of four) Al Zubarah-class corvettes, the Al Khor, to the Qatari MoD at the Muggiano shipyard in La Spezia on 22 December.

Designed to be consistent with RINAMIL rules, the corvettes will be highly flexible and capable of fulfilling multiple tasks, from surveillance with sea rescue capacities to naval combat. They will be about 107m long and equipped with a combined diesel and diesel plant (CODAD), with a maximum speed of 28 knots. They will accommodate up to 112 persons, will operate high-speed boats such as RHIBs through lateral cranes or a stern ramp,  located at the far stern and feature a flight deck and hangar sized for hosting a single NH90 helicopter.
