Thales Opens Offices in Bolivia

Manufacturing and Installing 13 Radars for Air Defence System

Thales Air Systems has opened offices in Bolivia to support the nation’s Sistema Integrado de Defensa y Control Aéreo (SIDACTA – Integrated Air Defence and Control System), signifying its commitment to providing the most complete air defence system in the region, according to country director Stéphane Parola.

The contract covers the manufacture and installation of 13 radars for civil and military operations at La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz and Trinidad, at a total cost of €191 million. The principal objective of the new system will be detection and interdiction of illicit flights, mainly connected with drug smuggling, as well as protection of sovereign airspace.
