Seven Year Agreement Includes Technology Transfer
The Danish Defence & Logistics Organisation (DLO) and Thales have signed a seven-year framework agreement for acquisition and support of the SOTAS vehicular communications system. The modular, scalable and future-proofed system, already fielded in over 30 countries, will be installed in a range of wheeled and tracked vehicles in Danish service. First deliveries are expected in 2018.
Under previous contracts, Thales has already delivered SOTAS equipment to Denmark: under the new agreement, however, maintenance technologies will be transferred to Denmark from Thales activities in the Netherlands, reinforcing a closer relationship with DLO. Thales remains committed to continuous development of SOTAS to further increase mission effectiveness, leveraging the modular and open-architecture nature of the system.
Thales employs over 110 staff in Denmark, where its relationship dates back over 25 years. The Royal Danish Navy operates Thales radars on its most recent five vessels, the Army uses its communications systems and the company holds prominent positions in the nation’s air traffic management and railway signalling networks.
