New Capabilities Based on Proven Unmanned Technologies
Thales, systems integrator for the end-to-end solution for the Anglo-French Maritime Mine Countermeasures programme, has contracted Saab to deliver the Multi-Shot Mine Neutralisation System (MuMNS) in an initial order valued at MSEK300 (€29.8 million), the Swedish company announced on 8 January. First deliveries are anticipated in 2022.
Saab will deliver state-of-the-art mine identification and disposal systems to be operated from unmanned surface vessels (USV) by the British and French navies. Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s Dynamics business area, commented “It’s a great success to deliver capabilities that enable these navies to perform safer and more efficient Mine Countermeasures operations, since the operator can neutralise multiple sea mines from a safe distance.”
MuMNS delivers new capabilities in a powerful, modular system based on proven Saab unmanned technology and MCM solutions. This means unparalleled operational capability with greater flexibility that significantly improves operational tempo, and reduces the cost of MCM operations and risk to personnel.
