ORP PIAST Receiving SeaBat T50-R Sonar
Teledyne RESON is upgrading the capabilities of the Polish Navy’s rescue vessel ORP PIAST by installing its SeaBat T50-R high resolution multi-beam sonar. The system is currently being fitted in the Nauta shipyard in Gdynia.
SENControl, specialist in failure mode and effects analysis, common marine inspections and engineering support, has been commissioned to install the Teledyne sonar and to deliver, install and integrate dynamic positioning and 4-point mooring systems.
ORP PIAST was commissioned into the Polish Navy in 1974 as a multi-role rescue-salvage vessel. In the late 1990s she underwent extensive refitting and modernisation. After the update and commissioning of the new systems, she will operate primarily in the Baltic Sea as a submarine support and rescue vessel and, with the new sonar system installed, will also boast seabed mapping capability.
