The contract is part of a C-UAS solution for Ukraine
Teledyne FLIR Defense has signed a $31million (€28 million) contract with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to provide its XL mobile counter-unmanned aerial system (UAS) Cerberus® XL, in the framework of a large C-UAS solution for Ukraine.
The agreement includes delivery of the surveillance platforms, software, spares, support and training. On a mobile platform, CERBERUS XL identifies and tracks enemy’s UAS targets, combining a thermal/visual imaging system with highly sensitive radar sensors. Kongsberg then feeds information from Cerberus into its remote weapons station to neutralise the threat.
The system will be donated to Kyiv to build efficient counter-drone systems through to the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), funded by several countries.
“Teledyne FLIR is proud to partner with Kongsberg in delivering our next-generation Cerberus XL as part of a complete and robust system to protect Ukraine’s warfighters,” said JihFen Lei, Executive VP of Teledyne FLIR Defense.
In addition to the CERBERUS systems, Teledyne FLIR supports Ukraine’s defence with other advanced military technology, including its Black Hornet® nano-drone.
