Tecnobit Awarded Tactical Communications Datalink Contract in Japan

Company Will Establish SDR Production Facility in Valdepeñas

Tecnobit-Grupo Oesia announced on 4 June that it has been awarded an important new contract in Japan for its tactical communications datalink technology.

Luis Furnells, Executive President of Tecnobit-Grupo Oesia, stressed the importance of the contract, emphasising that it underpins the favourable reception that the demanding international market has given its advanced technologies.

Datalinks allow the sharing of tactical data between platforms on land, at sea and in the air, thus streamlining decision-making and making the process more efficient. Tecnobit’s LINPRO (Data LINk PROcessor) is a multi-link processor that has already become the standard communications link for the Spanish Navy and is also operational in the Navy’s anti-aircraft artillery operations centres and the Air Force’s operations centres in Madrid, Zaragoza and the Canary Islands. In addition to Spain, this advanced tactical communications technology is also operational in the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Bangladesh and now Japan. It is currently the only available tactical communications processor, the company claims, able to work simultaneously and interchangeably in L11A/B, L16, L22 and JRE modes, able to forward data in various configurations and with VMF capabilities.

Furnells also announced that, based on the company’s extensive international experience in tactical and secure communications, it intends to establish a Radio Production Centre, incorporating the latest standards in software-defined radio (SDR). To be located in Valdepeñas and pan-European in its intent, the facility would nonetheless be a guarantor of national technological sovereignty in essential security systems and would generate considerable production and R&D-related work. A detailed analysis of the proposal has already been conducted by an Executive Committee that includes the Mayor of Valdepeñas, Jésus Martín.
