Teal and Reveal Demonstrate Multi-Drone Mapping to US Special Forces

4-Ship System Paired with Farsight Software

Reveal Technology and Teal Drones have demonstrated an advanced tactical mapping system for members of US Army Special Operations Command.

Reveal’s Farsight mapping software can automatically combine imagery from multiple sources to produce high-fidelity 3D maps. Teal’s 4-Ship technology allows a single user to simultaneously control up to four of the company’s Golden Eagle UAVs. By combining 4-Ship with Farsight, the companies say that they have produced a system that can generate 3D maps in “virtually real time” overlaid with information such as line-of-sight analysis, AI-generated “best route through” suggestions, vertical measurements and helicopter landing zone surveys.

This integration of Reveal’s Farsight software with Teal’s 4-Ship product is one of the most important apps that has been developed for the Golden Eagle so far,” said Jeff Thompson, CEO of Teal’s parent company, Red Cat.

Because Teal has a dedicated manufacturing facility in the US, they can make good on their promise to deliver product to the military on-time, which is an enormous advantage in today’s drone industry,” added Reveal’s COO, Andrew Dixon. “[This] means that our technology is much more likely to get to users on the front lines when they need it.”

The companies conducted the demonstration near Fort Bragg, NC. Though pertinent information is scarce, they have released imagery showing data acquired during the demo. Meanwhile, Teal has signed an exclusive licensing deal with drone software firm Autonodyne, which means Teal will have sole access to Autonodyne’s technology. The firms intend to have an autonomous Golden Eagle ready to deliver by the end of 2022.
