RBS 70, RBS 90 and Giraffe Radars
The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has contracted Saab for continued support of the Swedish ground-based air defence (GBAD) system, under a contract valued at SEK170 million (US$16.3 million). The work will be performed at Halmstad, Växjö and Gothenburg as well as at customer locations, over the period 2023-2025, with options for a further three-year period thereafter.
“By providing continued support, we contribute to ensuring the readiness of Swedish ground based air defence systems, and that the armed forces can continue to keep Sweden’s airspace safe,” observed Michael Olofsson, head of Saab’s Tactical Support Solutions business unit.
Saab has provided support for Swedish GBAD systems for more than 60 years. It currently includes the RBS 70 and RBS 90 missile systems, as well as the Giraffe AMB and Giraffe 75 radars. Saab also handles support for the RBS 97, in addition to C2 systems and software.
