The new order includes designing new development and simulation environments for the aircraft, as well as developing new support systems
The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) has awarded Saab an additional order worth some €50 million (SEK 579 million) for the Gripen C/D upgrade.
The new order includes designing new development and simulation environments for the aircraft, developing new support systems to facilitate the harmonisation of Gripen C/D and Gripen E for Sweden and further equipment and hardware orders.
“The upgrade of Gripen C/D is an important step in maintaining a high level of operational capability in the turbulent world we live in. It is also important in order for Gripen C/D to operate beyond 2030,” says Lars Tossman, head of Saab’s Aeronautics business area.”
The contract is the last one of a series. In December, Saab received an order from the Swedish agency to equip the aircraft with a new engine version and introduce a more effective electronic warfare system, among others.
