Indeginous assembly preferred While PAC Kamra may have signed the contract for the sale of 52 Super MUSHSHAKs to the Turkish Air Force (TurAF) on May 10 at IDEF, discussions are still continuing over the assembly of the aircraft.
Although TAI has its hands full with so many different projects like the TF-X fighter, HŰRKUS, T129, ANKA, and T625, the TurAF wants TAI to assemble the Super MUSHSHAKS in Turkey. Several people have expressed concern at this, because it will cause issues to both sides. The low level of technology transfer is unattractive to TAI, and at the same time it will cause PAC a headache having to ship the ground jigs as well as engineering set up to Turkey.
One source told MONS: “It would be much easier for both companies if the trainers were built in Pakistan and airfreighted to Turkey. Perhaps, there may be a compromise, but at the moment the TurAF seems to be digging in its heels.”
