Success in MKU’s Sights

Company hopes for success with Netro thermal sight in domestic, international markets.

Officials from MKU have told MONS that the firm is offering its new Netro thermal weapons sight for Indian Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Ministry of Interior requirements.

The two ministries have a need for a new thermal sight which can equip is existing assault rifles, carbines and light machine guns used by the country’s army and paramilitary organisations, such as the Indian Border Security Force. The uncooled thermal sensor offers between six and eight hours of battery life, according to company officials, and can be easily attached to a Picatinny Rail.

Confidential sources at the exhibition told MONS that the Indian MOD may commence the procurement process to satisfy its thermal sight requirement in 2018, although there is no indication as to when the selection process will be completed or whether the MOD will choose to select a sole supplier, or a number of suppliers to satisfy the requirement. Currently the Indian Army has existential requirements for almost 200,000 new assault rifles and carbines, which gives an idea of the potential market size for the NETRO sight.
