Su-57 Export Variant on Display at Army-2020

Features in Both Static and Flight Programmes

Rostec, the state corporation that manages the Russian defence industry export programme, announced on 20 August that the export version of the Sukhoi Su-57 fighter will be on public display for the first time at Army-2020 outside Moscow, 23-29 August. “The Su-57E export version of the fifth-generation fighter will be demonstrated for the first time at the Army forum as part of its static show and will also take to the skies under the flight programme,” the Rostec press office stated.

Visitors will also be able to see a MiG-35 light multirole fighter in flight, as well as a Ka-52 reconnaissance/attack helicopter and an upgraded Ka-27M gunship. An Mi-28N helicopter will feature in both solo and formation flights.

The Su-57 is a fifth-generation multirole fighter designed to destroy all types of air, ground and naval targets. It features low observable (stealth) technology with wide use of composites, is capable of supersonic cruising speeds and is furnished with the most advanced avionics, including a powerful onboard computer (dubbed by some an ‘electronic second pilot’), a distributed radar system and internally stowed weapons. Its future armament is likely to incorporate hypersonic missiles.
