Revision Military StingerHawk Eyewear

MONS Gear Box Product Review

MONS had the opportunity to try the StingerHawk glasses by Revision Military and is very happy to recommend them for a variety of different purposes.

In the first trial, the StingerHawk were used as cycling glasses. The ability to very easily interchange the frames meant that the glasses could be used for a ride on a sunny day (dark lenses) or for a ride at night (non-tainted lenses), a feature that is very useful in particular during the winter when days are short and one might leave for work under the sun but return when it is already dark out. The material of the nose-piece is also great in that it prevents the glasses from slipping from the nose (even a small nose like the one of yours truly) when working up a sweat on the bike.

The StingerHawk also held their own on the ski slopes of the Pyrenees as accessory to a wild snowboarder. Similarly to the bike, the ability to change lenses easily meant that they could be used at the beginning of the day when the sun was out and then, through a couple of simple clicks, become useful in seeing the bumps on the pistes thanks to the yellow-tainted lenses. They were wide enough to protect the eyes from the wind but left room for air to go through so they did not become foggy, another very useful feature on the ski slopes. Finally the pocket also doubles as a lenses cleaner, which removed the snow accumulated on the occasional fall quite nicely.

Last but not least, the StingerHawk could very easily become a favourite for rowers. Again, the dark lenses protect the eyes from the reflection of the sun on the water, but the fact that there is room between the lenses and the skins means that they do not accumulate fog – a well-known problem for rowers who work-up a good sweat and then fog-up their glasses when they take a break.
