Being my favourite fixed blade knife, the 9.38in (238mm) long STREET BOWIE with a 5in (127mm) non-reflective ceramic coated blade and a 4.65in (118mm) edge made of VG-10 steel at 3.7oz (105g), has withstood everything I have so far thrown at it.
Featuring Designer Fred Perrin’s distinctive index-finger choil, which serves as an ingeniously effective alternative to a traditional guard, and an injection-moulded FRN handle with high-traction Kraton rubber inserts, Spyderco pairs this with a redesigned injection-moulded polymer sheath equipped with the versatile G-Clip attachment.
Custom knifemaker Fred Perrin is a highly renowned self-defence instructor and a former French Army Commando among other things. He used his experiences to give the knife substance and functionality.
The STREET BOWIE’s flat-ground VG-10 stainless steel blade offers both power and finesse. It features a straight clip point that centres the tip for control and penetration. The injection-moulded fibreglass-reinforced-nylon handle is bonded to the tang of the blade for strength and features Kraton rubber panels. This construction, along with Perrin’s signature index-finger groove and extended textured grooves on the spine of the blade, provide an exceptional grip even in demanding circumstances.
The redesigned sheath has a high throat for positive retention while still providing a full grip on the knife at the outset of the draw.
Spyderco’s G-clip attachment supports both belt carry and clip-style inside-the-waistband carry. Configurable for vertical, horizontal or diagonally canted carry, the G-clip can be attached to both sides and both faces of the symmetrical sheath to provide a range of carry positions and edge orientations. The sheath’s grommet-style construction allows it to be easily lashed to any MOLLE platform with parachute cord, and its narrow design makes it ideal for discreet, space-efficient placement behind magazine pouches.
