Unveils never-before-seen folders and a brand new breaching tool
Big news came out of SHOT Show 2018 at the Spyderco booth: The company unveiled never-before-seen folders and a brand new breaching tool.
The company revealed the TECHNO 2, a sheepsfoot blade riff on the original micro-sized Marcin Slysz collaboration; the MANTRA 3, a line extension of Spyderco’s signature flipper knives with carbon fibre and a compression lock; and the BROUWER, an elegant, modestly sized titanium framelock. Furthermore, the SHAMAN now comes in a black blade, the Spyderco SMOCK, based on Kevin Smock’s custom SK23 model, will be entering the company’s production queue, and the CLIPTOOL Standard and Rescue are convenient multi-tool folding knife designs.
Drawing from his experiences as a martial artist, US Marine, and law enforcement officer, designer Laci Szabo designed the WARRIOR HAWK as a full-service tomahawk equally suited to utility and combat applications. Crafted from a single piece of thick D2 tool steel and cloaked in a black titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coating, its head features a faceted cutting edge and a potent rear spike. The full-tang handle is sandwiched between long G10 scales that have a series of machined grooves around the perimeter to guarantee positive traction and a full range of grip choices. The butt end of the handle terminates in a stout pry tip and, like the head, includes a large Round Hole for easy attachment of lanyards. When not in action, the WARRIOR HAWK’s head is protected by a custom-molded Boltaron sheath and comes packaged in a padded zipper pouch.
