Nanobend Extends ‘Bend to the End’ Minibend Product Range
Defence, aerospace and test/measurement equipment manufacturers are set to benefit from a new small-space solution from German-based electro-optical connectivity specialists Huber+Suhner.
Nanobend’s cable diameter is 1.62mm which, the company says, means it offers the tightest bending radii on the market. It joins Huber+Suhner’s Minibend range of connectors, which are marketed under the slogan ‘bend to the end’. The cable will bend tightly, up to the point where it meets the connector, without impacting negatively on signal strength or stability.
The Nanobend cable is optimised to handle frequencies up to 65GHz (though it can handle up to 110GHz) and is triple-shielded to minimise RF leakage. The cable has been designed to meet the Sensor Open Systems Architecture Consortium’s SOSA standard, so will work with a range of common industrial standards without requiring any specific integration.
“The Nanobend cable assembly has been created for applications where footprint is extremely limited, such as small orbit satellites and military radar electronics,” said Raymond Miney, Huber+Suhner’s Senior Product Manager. “Despite the extreme bending capabilities of the cable, reliability in high-frequency signal distribution is ensured. This means that we can support the need of engineers to accommodate miniaturization requirements and meet strict ESA, NASA, and MIL standards.”
