SOFINS 2019: Etienne Lacroix Focuses on Protection and Support

Specialist Cases and Protective Helmets

Etienne Lacroix Group’s participation in the Special Operations Forces Innovative Network Seminar (SOFINS) 2019 near Bordeaux this week will highlight the synergies and expertise of four of its constituent companies, and will be displaying supplies and equipment designed to meet special operations forces’ (SOF) requirements: solutions for defence and self-protection; services and forces support; products and equipment dedicated to law enforcement; packaging solutions for SOF equipment, etc.

CIRRA Packaging is an importer and distributor of waterproof and dust-tight cases, small carrying cases, flight cases and other types of protective cases to serve all sectors, among which are defence and SOF elements. Its expertise in digital and die cutting of foam inserts enables the company to provide complete solutions to meet specific requirements: transport and storage cases for weapons, drones, radio communications equipment, high-value equipment, etc.

Its exclusive partnership with case manufacturers such as PELI and SKB places it in a position to provide a broad range of waterproof and dust-tight protective cases suited to the various kinds of unmanned systems used by SOF – in the land, sea and air environments – such as the case developed for the Thales SPY RANGER unmanned aerial system. At SOFINS 2019 a PELI case for HK416 rifles and a PELI STORM case for communications equipment will be featured.

CIRRA boasts specialised equipment, including a 3D scanner for precision measurement, and water jet cutters that work to an accuracy of 0.1mm, coupled with precision milling to create customised cavities. Additionally, the company provides a variety of labelling and identification methods: screen printing directly onto items; digital printing onto permanent adhesive labels; and epoxy resin dome, a modern and attractive method.

Established in 2016, Unitive is a specialist supplier and distributor of defence and security equipment and services, commercialising innovative protection equipment for law enforcement and military personnel. Following an exclusive agreement last year, Unitive will be distributing ULBRICHTS protection helmets in France.

During SOFINS 2019, Unitive will be showcasing the ZENTURIO C1300 H and HOPLITJUMP models, as well as other items from its product portfolio. In order to confront the ever-present terrorist threat, security forces at home and abroad are equipped with the most sophisticated protection available.

Police and military personnel are equipped with ballistic safety helmets, but protection against 7.62×39 mm calibre rounds is difficult to achieve. The ULBRICHTS range of titanium helmets provide effective protection at a distance of only 15mm, meaning that the bullet is not only stopped, but that the wearer is spared from potentially fatal head injuries as the residual energy is reduced to under 25 joules. Helmets manufactured in other materials cannot compete, and they only begin to become effective from an approximate distance of 50mm from the rims.
