NVLS Launches QUADEYE

Features four intensifier tubes, which are available in 16mm & 18mm

NVLS – Night Vision Laser Spain – launched the QUADEYE panoramic night vision goggles/PNVG at the Special Operations Forces Innovation Network – SOFINS – this week.

QUADEYE, which is already under evaluation with ‘Tier 1’ Special Forces units, uses four of Photonis‘ fourth generation (4G) intensifier tubes, which are available in 16mm and 18mm measurements, according to the company.

The aim of the four-tube configuration, in comparison to alternative monocular and binocular designs, is to provide special forces operators with increased field of view and therefore, enhanced situational awareness. According to the company, QUADEYE’s field of view measures between 102 and 104 degrees.

The non-ITAR QUADEYE, which can be worn as a standalone device with head bracket or as a helmet mounted device, weighs 700grams and is manufactured from Magnesium for increased rigidity over plastic models.

Powered by AA batteries, QUADEYE operates between 350 and 1,110nm in the electromagnetic spectrum. The unit, which also includes an 950nm infrared illuminator, automatically turns off when not in front of the operator’s eyes, company officials explained.

Providing operators with a white phosphor sighting picture, the QUADEYE also has less blooming and blind areas over legacy models, the company claimed.
