SOFIC 2019: FN Highlights FCU Mk3

First Round Hit – On Target – Day and Night

AT SOFIC 2019 in Florida, 20-23 May, FN Herstal will showcase a number of initiatives from its ‘e-novation’ range of solutions, including the FCU Mk3 fire control unit.

The FCU Mk3 provides a complete sighting and aiming solution for 40mm grenade launchers, calculating trajectories and providing an adjusted point of aim enabling the operator to achieve first round hits in all conditions – by day and night. It comprises a laser range finder; a large aiming window for easy target acquisition; sensors for temperature, angles of elevation, and cant; a ballistic calculator; and a self-adjusting electronic reticle. It also has a quick detach base through a MIL-STD-1913 type interface and one hand-activated lever. When combined, all these features help to dramatically increase the hit probability, embodying FN Herstal’s motto ‘Enhancing capability through e-technology.’ The FCU Mk3 can be fitted to any rifle or carbine – such as the company’s SCAR MK16 or 17 assault rifle – featuring an underslung grenade launcher, to stand-alone launchers – such as the MK13 FN40GL – or to multi-shot grenade launchers.

The ‘e-novation’ range also includes the FN SAM and FN Expert solutions. The former combines the FN SmartCore shot counter with associated software that optimises digital small arms management. FN Expert is a marksmanship training system for carbines, rifles and recoilless rifles that is safe, efficient and easy to use for both trainees and instructors.
