SOFIC 2018: 5.11 Promotes HexGrid

All Mission Backpacks Highlighted

5.11 is using the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) in Tampa, Florida to promote the latest variants in its HexGrid multi-directional and modular tactical solution.

Speaking to MONCh, Director of Federal Programmes, Chuck Hauber, described how the company was using the event to promote its All Mission System (AMS) concept which now includes a dedicated All Mission Plate Carrier and Backpack systems.

The All Mission Plate Carrier has been designed with a Velcro-based top layer capable of featuring HexGrid panels allowing an operator to attach the HexGrid load carrying solution. HexGrid panels can be attached to the front, rear and side panels, Mr. Hauber described.

5.11’s latest plate carrier comprises an evolution of a more basic variant first exhibited at SOFIC in 2017, based on a more skeletal solution featuring HexGrid technology.

In addition, the company is also promoting its series of All Mission Backpacks. The AMP12, 24 and 72 (named in line with the capacity to support 12-72 hour mission durations) are fitted with Velcro pads to similar feature integrated HexGrid technologies similar to those integrated on board the plate carrier.

Furthermore, the inside of the backpacks also feature Velcro pads allowing operators to rapidly reconfigure load carrying HexGrid panels from the outside of the pack into the inside for more covert operations.

The AMP series offers all new options for mounting and attaching gear with dedicated eyewear pocket and dual side pockets making it easy to store all of your accessories,” Mr. Hauber stated.

The executive also highlighted to MONCh how even the smallest AMP12 could carry a short-barrelled rifle (SBR) such as Sig Sauer’s MCX RATTLER, which is currently in evaluation with the US Special Operations Command.

Such a capability can support more discreet and clandestine special operations including close protection, surveillance and reconnaissance as well as lightweight combat loads carried during assault operations.
