Smartshooter Developing Maritime Application for SMASH FCS

Compensates for Inherent Instability

Smartshooter is developing and evaluating a maritime application for its SMASH fire control system (FCS), the company will reveal at DEFEA 2023 in Athens next week.

The maritime application aims to address the challenges of shooting accurately at sea and overcoming the inherent instability caused by both platform and target movement. It will minimise the impact of such movement, timing shot release to increase hit accuracy. It can be used against maritime targets as well as drones. Currently in operational evaluation, the application has already shown excellent results.  “At sea, the instability caused by the waves and the target movements make shooting accurately extremely challenging. Therefore, we took the challenge of developing a maritime SMASH application, understanding that the added value of our fire control capabilities is even higher in the maritime environment,” commented CEO, Michal Mor.

The company will showcase a number of SMASH variants at DEFEA, including:

  • SMASH 3000: a rifle-mounted lightweight FCS with an additional advanced Counter-UAS mode that provides accurate Hard Kill capability against drones or any static or moving ground targets;
  • SMASH X4: an FCS with a x4 magnifying optic scope for extended detection, recognition, identification and lethality ranges;
  • SMASH Hopper: a light remotely-controlled weapon station (LRCWS) that can be mounted on manned and unmanned platforms to provide a pin-point accurate lethal capability from a safe stand-off distance.

The SMASH FCS family uses AI, computer vision, and advanced algorithms to ensure precise hit capabilities, enhance situational awareness and lethality and reduce collateral damage. Fielded and operationally deployed by forces including the, US special forces and the Indian Navy, SMASH enables the platoon to be smart, precise, and connected.

Details of the SMASH maritime application will be revealed at DEFEA in Athens. (Smartshooter)
