New agreement between Leonardo and CAE-Lider for AW139 full flight simulator
A new agreement between Leonardo and CAE-Lider, a joint venture between CAE and Lider Aviação, was announced on 16 August for the collaboration in the sales and marketing of AW139 flight simulator hours across South America. A previous agreement between the two parties, signed in March this year, had designated CAE-Lider as the Recognised Flight Simulation Centre (RFSC) for the delivery of OEM-quality AW139 flight simulator hours supporting training in South America.
“We are delighted to cement our relationship with Leonardo through this agreement, leveraging our investment in providing high quality and safety mission-specific training to both our pilots and customers in the region,” said Eduardo Vaz, Lider Aviação CEO.
The CAE 3000 series full-flight simulator (FFS), operated by CAE-Lider and jointly developed by CAE and Leonardo Helicopters, has been qualified to level D, the highest qualification for flight simulators by the Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) in Brazil, and supports initial, recurrent and offshore oil and gas training for AW139 pilots both in Saõ Paolo, Brazil, and across South America.
“It is an honour to extend our partnership with Leonardo Helicopters to further support its customer’s pilot training needs across South America,” said Nick Leontidis, CAE’s Group President, Civil Aviation Training Solutions.
Leonardo sees this new agreement as a step forward in the expansion of its global helicopter training network. The relationship with CAE-Lider to support the delivery of AW139 training across Brazil is part of Leonardo’s commitment to supporting customers as close as possible to their point of operations.
