High Performance Saves Lives
At SICUR 2018 in Madrid this week Austrian manufacturer Lenzing is demonstrating the range of protective solutions made possible by its branded LENZING FR cellulose-based fibres.
LENZING FR offers multi-layered protection and comfort for users, protecting individuals from fatigue or hear stress, which are the most frequent cause of industrial accidents. Blended with other high performance synthetic fibres, LENZING FR brings its high moisture absorption capabilities to bear, allowing clothing to ‘breathe,‘ thus resolving the perspiration issue.
Tests show that, in comparison with materials commonly used in protective clothing, LENZING FR can reduce the incidence of second- and third-degree burns by up to 30%, in many cases reducing or even preventing material rupture. Detailed physiological testing demonstrated the material works most effectively in layers, lowering body temperature and giving workers a higher performance profile as a result: the ‘added perfomance‘ amounts to some 16W, according to the company – and that translates to an additional one minute’s protection. One minute can save lives.
In use around the world, LENZING FR fibres are particularly appreciated in countries with very hot climates, where optimum moisture regulation is a matter of survival.
