SIATT participates in the seventh launch of MANSUP carried out by the Brazilian Navy

MANSUP Missile System has 100% Brazilian technology and proves the capacity of the national industry to develop complex and sophisticated equipment for the Armed Forces

On September 13, the Brazilian Navy carried out the seventh launch of the Anti-Surface Ship Missile (MANSUP – Míssil Antinavio de Superfície, in the acronym in Portuguese), developed in partnership with SIATT, with 100% Brazilian technology. The activities took place on the Rademaker Frigate.

MANSUP has a range of 70km, with a speed of 0.8 Mach (approximately 608ml/h), at sea level. In this launch, the Combat Head (with explosive charge) was replaced by a Telemetric Head responsible for transmitting the information acquired during the flight to the telemetry reception stations for later analysis by SIATT engineers.

SIATT is the only company in Brazil with the technical capacity to respond to the missile launch project adopted by the Brazilian Navy. The technology can be used in other weapons of the Armed Forces.

With its expertise in systems integration, SIATT is the technical manager for the entire project, and will be the future supplier of the entire MANSUP Weapons System, which includes Missile Launch Console), Missile Launch Test Equipment and Guidance, Navigation and Control System and all Logistics Support equipment and tools.

This is a very important moment for the Brazilian Defense industry and also for the Armed Forces, which will acquire top-of-the-line equipment to defend our Blue Amazon,” comments Rogério Salvador, CEO of SIATT.

Engineer Robson Duarte, from SIATT, followed all the steps of the system’s development. “We are aligned with the Navy’s demands and we have the capacity to create and operate a complex system like MANSUP.

Development and Launches
The MANSUP project began in 2008 and began to be developed in 2011 when the Brazilian Navy announced a partnership with some Brazilian companies, notably SIATT, responsible for the guidance, navigation, control and telemetry systems. As the project progressed, SIATT took over the assembly and testing of MANSUP and its integration with Brazilian Navy ships.

The missile underwent its first launch in November 2018. Five other launches have been carried out so far, with evaluations of several variables such as the operation of the Autodirector, the Guidance, Navigation and Control System, the propulsion and the missile’s self-destruction, including the functional verification of all internal subsystems.

This year, important tests were carried out on the final format of the system, with the missile being launched from the Defensora Frigate.

The next stage of the MANSUP Project will be its industrial production, enabling the complete system to be embarked on Brazilian ships. MANSUP missiles are expected to begin being delivered to the Brazilian Navy from 2026.
