The Safariland Group and VIEVU introduced the Camera Auto-Activation System, a proprietary technology. The VIEVU LE4 Body Worn Camera is activated once a firearm is drawn from the Safariland 7TS duty retention holster. Upon activation, the camera’s pre-record function captures and records the 30 seconds of video prior to the drawing of the firearm and remains actively recording until the camera is manually turned off. The VIEVU LE4 Body Worn Camera, when in standby mode, is constantly buffering (and deleting if not needed) 30-second periods of footage. In a critical situation, an officer’s focus should be on protecting themselves and the safety of others. Their first trained instinct needs to be the drawing of their firearm, not turning on a body worn camera.
