IDET 2017 in full swing

IDET 2017 was officially opened by the Czech President Milos Zeman. Its accompanying programme includes several conferences, including CATE (organised by the University of Defence) and V4 Municipal Police conference, seminars and demonstrations. A dedicated Cyber Pavillion features e.g. live hacking shows, IDET Arena field polygon provides opportunity to observe demonstrations of capabilities of host country´s armoured and other vehicles operated by its army, police, fire fighting and other security units, and drone flights.

At IDET 2017, Turkey, as the largest foreign exhibitor, is represented by 11 defence companies and two government bodies. In the afternoon, a Czech-Turkish Industrial Forum took place to highlight this major presence. Among the largest exhibitors at the show are BAE Systems International featuring its CV90 family of armoured fighting vehicles (exhibited here for the first time), Czechoslovak Group (CSG) and its individual companies (Tatra, Excalibur Army, Excalibur International, Karbox, MSM Group), Omnipol and ERA, Rheinmetall, STV Group, VOP CZ, LOM Praha, and Ceska zbrojovka (CZ) featuring its new products (P-10 C pistol and Scorpion EVO 3 submachine gun).

A new Czech Perun 4×4 light vehicle manufactured by SVOS Prelouc had its world premiere today at IDET in Brno, Czechia. It has an open cabin for five soldiers and a 12.7mm machine gun as its main armament. Specifically designed for the 601 Special Forces Group, its requirements were validated during its recent combat missions in Afghanistan and Mali. So far, the first four vehicles were already ordered by the Czech Army in March 2017.

At IDET, Rheinmetall is exhibiting its PUMA armoured infantry fighting
vehicle to highlight its participation in a current tender of the Czech Defence Ministry for a new batch of AFVs. Required testing programme by the Army of the Czech Republic (ACR) will commence on Monday, 5 June, according to company officials.

On Wednesday evening, the Golden IDET awards handover ceremony took place at Slavkov Chateau (Austerlitz) near the famous battlefield of 1805. Awards were won by the following exhibiting companies: Agados for PK 4 Kaga mobile field kitchen, SVOS Prelouc for its new PERUN ST semi-armoured open light vehicle, Meopta and Robinson Armament for their XCR-M 7.62 mm NATO precision rifle, Excalibur Army for BM-21 MT 4×4 (Grad) self-propelled rocket system, and Fidelis CyberSecurity USA for its Fidelis Network and Fidelis Endpoint integrated cyber security system. In addition, an honorable mention was awarded to the AFCEA Cyber Security Task Force for its long-standing contribution to the ICT and cyber security education and training of the armed forces personnel.

At IDET, PSM (a joint venture of KMW and Rheinmetall) is exhibiting its Puma armoured infantry fighting vehicle to highlight its  participation in a current tender of the Czech Defence Ministry for a  new batch of AFVs. Required testing programme by the Army of the Czech  Republic (ACR) will commence on Monday, June 5, according to company  officials.
