Sealartec Unveils Innovative Robotic Launch and Recovery System

Provides a Quantum Change in USV Handling

Israeli startup technology innovator Sealartec has completed full sea trials for its ground-breaking robotic launch and recovery system.

During a series of trials that took place off Israel recently, the company demonstrated the unique system’s capability to conduct precise, fully-autonomous launch and recovery of an unmanned vessel (USV). The recovered boat was a classic 5m deep-V mono-hull design and the trials took place in sea state 4 with gusting winds.

USVs conduct a wide and expanding range of activities, including research and survey, marine asset security and supporting oil and gas exploration. However, USV launch and recovery is extremely complicated, dangerous and limited as to sea state. This significantly degrades the effectiveness of their use, as it involves considerable risk to the crews and potential damage to the launch platform.

Sealartec’s unique solution tackles these challenges, ensuring recovery of manned or unmanned boats at almost any sea condition.

Based on patented robotics and algorithmic technologies, Sealartec’s system is capable of recovering any manned or unmanned vessel in conditions up to sea state 6. It includes an innovative, hydrodynamic floating structure with robotic capture device with autonomous processes that control a decision-making algorithm. This combination allows safe recovery under severe sea conditions while in motion, with higher safety standards.

The capability to launch and recover unmanned vessels at sea, safely and autonomously at the most rigorous conditions, addresses an acute needs gap and will enable a wider adoption of these vessels,” commented Sealartec CEO, Amital Peleg.
