For Canada’s TIC3 Air Project (LoE 4)
SCYTALYS S.A. announced on December 2 that it has been awarded key contracts by Canada for the development, deployment, integration and ongoing support of at least 5 Link-22 Systems for the Tactical Integrated Command, Control and Communications (TIC3) Line of Effort 4 (LoE4). These contracts, valued at approximately USD $9.7 million in total, mark a pivotal step in enhancing Canada’s tactical data link capabilities and supporting a Recognized Air Picture (RAP) through the modern Link-22 networks.
The TIC3 Air Project is a broad initiative aimed at providing the Canadian Armed Forces with advanced communication and data link solutions. A robust Tactical Data Link (TDL) system will interconnect air, surface, subsurface, and ground-based tactical data systems and platforms, ensuring unified and secure communications across North America and overseas.
Key Highlights of the TIC3 Air Project – LoE4
These ground stations will leverage the latest advancements in Link-22 technology, providing beyond line-of-sight (BLOS) communications, to enhance situational awareness, surveillance and air defense capabilities. The project includes the integration of a new and secure deployable Link-22 TDL system with present, as well as new infrastructure and networks.
To ensure seamless Link-22 interoperability and control, SCYTALYS will utilize its Universal Link System (ULS). Additionally, the Mission Information Management C2 System (MIMS C2) will provide effective supervision of Link-22 tactical picture, improving situational awareness and operational coordination, supporting the TIC3 Air Project goals.
Moreover, SCYTALYS will offer comprehensive training sessions for operators and maintainers, covering deployment, setup, operation, and maintenance, to ensure proficiency in using the new system.
After the delivery of the systems, SCYTALYS will provide in-service support for at least 5 years to guarantee the systems remain up-to-date and competent with modern military communications requirements. This support will include regular updates, upgrades, maintenance, and technical assistance to address any issues that may arise, ensuring the continuous efficiency and reliability of the TDL system.
The project commenced with a Kick-off meeting on November 5th and 6th in Athens, Greece. This meeting established the foundation for future collaboration between SCYTALYS, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC), and Canada’s Department of National Defense (DND). This collaboration will facilitate the successful development, acceptance, and deployment of the TDL systems.
