Incorporated Areté Associates PILLS Sensor
Schiebel has successfully demonstrated the capabilities of its S-100 CAMCOPTER UAS to the US Office of Naval Research (ONR), the company announced on 9 August.
The ONR-sponsored demonstration took place off the Florida coast and featured the Pushbroom Imaging Lidar for Littoral Surveillance (PILLS) sensor, developed by Areté Associates. PILLS enables hydrographic mapping of ocean littoral spaces with a sensor optimised for size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints that easily integrates into the S-100. The system has multiple military and commercial applications.
“We are proud that we could successfully showcase the outstanding capabilities and data-gathering features of our CAMCOPTER S-100 to the US Navy. Globally, we operate extensively on land and at sea and we are confident that our unmanned solution is also the right fit for the US Navy,” stated Schiebel Group Chairman, Hans Georg Schiebel.
