Sikorsky-Boeing Team Completes Initial Ground Run

The Sikorsky-Boeing SB>1 DEFIANT helicopter has completed its initial ground run and is currently advancing through the ground testing activity in the build up to first flight.

The joint Sikorsky-Boeing team is working rigorously toward a productive, informative flight test program that will inform the next generation of military helicopters as part of the US Army’s Joint Multi-Role-Medium Technology Demonstrator programme, part of the US Department of Defense’s overarching approach to Future Vertical Lift aircraft.

DEFIANT, with its rigid, co-axial design, represents a leap forward in technology from conventional helicopters to achieve desired speed and range, while improving manoeuverability and survivability in a cost-effective package that will provide value for the military for decades to come, the team says.
