Deal Valued at $3.5 Billion
The US State Department notified Congress on 8 December of approval for a Foreign Military Sale to Saudi Arabia for Boeing CHINOOK helicopters. The estimated value of the contract is US$3.51 billion.
Saudi Arabia has requested:
- 48 CH-47F CHINOOKs;
- 112 T55-GA-714A engines (96 installed, 16 spares);
- 116 Embedded GPS Inertial Navigation Systems (EGI) (96 installed, 20 spares);
- 58 AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems (CMWS) (48 installed,10 spares);
- 48 M240H 7.62mm machine guns with spare parts.
Additional requirements include substantial additional avionics and logistics support issues, armour protection and training, spares and maintenance. Prime contractors will be Boeing and Honeywell.
