I/ITSEC 2018: SATB – Elbit Systems

Simulation and Training Bosses (SATB) Series Selected Industrial Views

On the occasion of I/ITSEC 2018, MILITARY TECHNOLOGY publishes its sixth Annual Simulation and Training Bosses (SATB) Series that conveys the thoughts and messages of the world’s defence simulation and training leaders, according to the question: “With the need for multi domain LVC training being paramount, what new innovations does your company provide?” In this case, Tal Levy, Senior Director Air Training Solutions at Elbit Systems Aerospace Division, answered the question.

Training and Simulation have been an integral part of Elbit Systems business portfolio for over 20 years. During this time the company has never stopped moving forward pushing the innovation bar higher and higher. Nowadays, there is a profound understanding of the need to train in a multi-domain arena. Connectivity between all military and civilian branches plays a key role in preparing for the modern battlefield.

In 2017 Elbit Systems completed the first phase of a next generation development linking two air training simulators in remote locations, via a cloud-based simulation environment, providing a common Synthetic Natural Environment (SNE). The company developed the ability to connect simulators through a secure simulation cloud, using standard protocols, providing simulation and information services. The new capability allows a “commonality of services” where connected trainers use common services and standard protocols to consume services from the secured cloud.

Elbit Systems’ Integrated Live Virtual and Constructive (ILVC) solution provides a seamless training environment. Based on data-links and standard protocols a simultaneous LVC training of real aircraft, constructive entities and simulator users (at different locations) is possible. The company’s TARGO HMD high-resolution projection system is used to display virtual and constructive entities for the aircrew, providing low-cost-high-safety complex training scenarios.

An additional solution in the company’s portfolio is the HLS². Operational with several customers, including the IDF, HLS² system provides 3D programme training, mission planning, rehearsal and debriefing for first responders and emergency agencies, in complex multi domain urban environments, handling catastrophic situations.

Elbit Systems diverse training solutions share unified infrastructure elements, developed based on years of field experience and in-house technological expertise.

OneSim – Unified high fidelity simulation and virtual arena generation with inter and intra correlated real-time simulation environment for all aspects of the simulated arena and systems.

OneVision – OneVision, Elbit T&S cross platform and cross domain image generator with new advanced capabilities based on the latest rendering technologies for training and simulation.

OneCGF – Produces realistic virtual entities’ Physical and Logical (behavior) layers to imitate the fidelity of real-life entities, fully synchronised and interactive with the simulation arena.
