Spyderco SALT 2 FRN Yellow

MONS Gear Box Product Review

First off, I’d like to say, this is a small knife. I prefer a larger blade, but the light (60g-2.1oz), very durable and high-visibility yellow Spyderco SALT 2 serrated edge or SpyderEdge as the company calls their very interesting serration pattern, grew on me fast.

The blade consists of corrosion resistance H-1 steel, enhanced ergonomics, a high-traction Bi-Directional Texturing pattern on the handle and a black-coated titanium pocket clip that supports left or right-side, tip-up or tip-down carry.

The handle components are molded from solid fibreglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) and fitted with four sets of threaded stainless steel inserts to mount the four-position clip. All other metal hardware on the SALT 2 is also machined from special non-rusting alloys.

The overall length is184mm (7.25in) with a blade length of 76mm (3in) and 2.5mm (0.098in) thickness. Overall, a solid and capable little knife that is very handy, and small enough to always be there.

Spyderco, based in Golden, CO/USA, has specialised in producing high quality production knives and knife sharpeners for over three decades. The signature feature of Spyderco is the SpyderHole opening mechanism, the large thumb hole in the spine of the blade, which may cause it to appear somewhat unusual but, serving to make the blade significantly easier to open with one hand.
